About the Winner
Leanne is known for her compassionate approach and dedication to helping clients with bruised credit — no matter what life circumstances have brought them there. She structures her business to ensure any private or alternative clients eventually transition to Prime and pay lower rates, which leads to a naturally repeating clientele. She also conducts monthly coaching sessions and cash flow planning with her alternative clients. The secret to Leanne’s — and her clients’ — success is taking a psychological, not an educational, approach to credit challenges. Leanne digs a little deeper to uncover the root cause of what got a client into credit trouble in the first place so she can understand their relationship with money and help with day-to-day decision-making. One area of specialty is helping people who have lived through significant life events such as illness, divorce, job loss, or the death of a family member get back on their feet financially. She also works with real estate investor clients to help them grow their rental portfolios, often planning months in advance to ensure mortgage funding success. Thanks to her customized coaching and counselling approach, Leanne’s customers become loyal clients for life, referring friends and growing her business.
Leanne is passionate about giving back to both her industry and her community. Her personal mission is to raise money to help Nova Scotians struggling with illnesses like cancer and heart disease to pay their mortgages so they have one less thing to worry about while undergoing treatment and focusing on their health. Over the past three years, she has raised thousands of dollars, and founded the More Than Mortgage Brokers Society as a way for all brokers to work together towards a common fundraising goal. Leanne plans to extend the Society’s work to help more people and ensure Nova Scotians understand the services and benefits available to them during financially trying times. Because brokers sell life and disability insurance, they are uniquely positioned to educate people and prepare them for life events that can affect their credit and ability to borrow. Leanne’s most recent fundraising campaign was for a woman in her community of Windsor-West Hants. She took part in the Slush Cup at Ski Martok, skiing through — and falling into! — freezing cold water to raise $2600.
